It's Chevron week over at Project Run & Play. I have to admit, I am totally cheating. This week has been chaos with Spring Break and Easter and since our "Kid sewing day", I havn't touched my sewing machine. I still wanted to participate though, so I thought I could use my "Out to Sea Chevron Dress" that was technically made last November. All but the chevron fabric was used out of a pile of scrap fabric I won from Matilda Jane. YAY to free fabric! I even used one of their yellow mesh bags that their clothing comes in for the ruffles.
I modified my Knot Dress Tutorial (size 8) to add the "World Map" panel in the front (the sash is thinner too). We have family and friends all over the world, so it was fun pointing out where "so and so" live on her dress.
Have I mentioned that this child is a ham? She used to be so good at taking photo's, but now she has this "mind of her own".
This is her "scream at the top of your lungs" pose:
Her "trying to chain herself up like a puppy" pose:
Her on the move:
And I have no idea what is going on here:
Oh well, who needs a perfectly posed child? lol
And if you are interested you can check out my tutorial. The amazing Hayley from Welcome to the Mouse House had me guest blog post yesterday! :D
The map on the front is such a great idea! So fun! And don't worry about "cheating" haha. We do what we have to do and this is an adorable dress :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! This week really has been crazy! My "need" for sleep is greater than my "want" to sew! :D
DeleteCute dress!! The Sarah Jane map print is one of my favorites. I love the others prints you added in too.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteSo funny, I was thinking your dress looked Matilda Jane-esque before I read the post! I love the mix.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I love all the fabric I got and am still hoarding the rest for that "perfect" project! :D
DeleteI love it. It is so fun. The re purpose of the bag into the ruffles is my favorite part. It's such a cute pattern. Way to join in the fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I love the versatility of knot dresses! :D
DeleteThe dress is charming and the pictures of your daughter having fun made me smile. The dress will be sure to be a favorite and long remembered because of the map and using it for looking for where family/friends live.
ReplyDeleteThe combination of fabrics and textures is wonderful. I really love how it all came together!
