So it's signature style over at Project Run and Play this week. I was racking my brains trying to decide what my exact style is. The only thing I could really come up with is that I love putting random prints and colors together. I don't even know what to call it. Working randomness? With all the layering I like to do, I guess you could call it Bag-lady style. That's what my mother used to call me growing up. I would seriously just layer and layer.
A lot of times when I show my family and friends fabrics I've chosen to go together they give me this look of "Oooookay then". I think my style is a lot like Matilda Jane or Persnickety. And I seriously know that their clothing is a million times cuter than mine, but I would love to aspire to their level. :D
I also know I have a problem of not choosing just 1 outfit.....I need to work on that.
Here's some of my outfits from the years.
Did I mention that I love pictures too?
I do end up sewing Knot dresses, patchwork skirts and ruffle skirts the most.
I havn't been sewing too long for boys, but I do know from dressing my oldest that I love a Skater/prep style. The button up shirts with t-shirts and skinny jeans. And again, just layers! :D
I've really enjoyed sewing along with Project Run and Play and getting to see all the amazing talent. Those girls are definitely inspiring! I can't wait for the next season! :D
I"m always so hesitant to put several patterns together but those are all ADORABLE!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! :D
Deleteoh my goodness. Love your signature style! Do you care if I pin kid pics (i.e. with their faces)?
ReplyDeleteI don't mind at all! Thank you for asking first and Thank you! :D
DeleteYou pull this off so well! You have a great eye for putting together fabrics and I love all of your outfits!
ReplyDeleteThank you! :D
DeleteYou have such a fun style Karly! You are definitely working that randomness. I would love to see a maxi style skirt with your random flair. Have you made anything like that?
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm just starting on my daughters spring/summer wardrobe and definitely want to make one for her. :D
DeleteOne of my favorites from your collection is that stinkin cute fish outfit. However, after looking through the pictures I love them all! I love the ruffles and the miking of patterns.
ReplyDeleteGreat Job Momma!
with love

lol Thanks Jo! I absolutely adore the fish outfit. The hardest part of that outfit was finding fish bone fabric. For some reason it just isn't that popular of a print! :D
DeleteI love your Matildaa Jane style dresses; they are all fun and pretty at the same time!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteYou have a great eye for combining crazy fabrics that totally work together. I love it.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I think I've gotten plenty of practice over the years. :D
DeleteI just adore the one that's mostly blues but has that pop of pink for a pocket. And the one just a bit down that has the yellow diasy fabric and the red and blue paired with it. You are so brave with pattern mixing, and it looks great!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI checked out the Matilda Jane site from your link and I think you ROCK the Matilda Jane 'look'. Your creations could be on their site easily. I love how cheerful and interesting your daughter's clothing is. I bet you get LOTS of compliments!
ReplyDeleteThank you Karen! We do get lots of compliments. I love making their clothes! :D
DeleteLove when people can do that! I really love the look but never tried it myself. Have you heard of farbenmix patterns? Their whole philosophy is creating bright cheerful clothes by mixing fabrics. Also Sewing Clothes Kids Love is a great book. I just love looking at the pictures. :)
ReplyDeleteYes! I'm waiting on some patterns I bought from them. One of my favorite blogs is http://mynata-sewingroom.blogspot.com/. I just adore the clothing she makes! Now, if only the european knit fabric didn't cost so much...... :D
