Aevaries 6th Birthday!

It's crazy how quickly life changes. At this time a mere 6 years ago we were about to head out to my 39 week appointment at the OB's. I was determined that we would be having our baby girl that day. When the Dr. told me that he wouldn't be surprised if he saw me come into the hospital later that night, I pleaded to just make it a date at the hospital and at 6:57pm, 2 short hours later, we were holding this little creature in our arms.

Surprise number 1 was that "beauty mark" on her eyebrow. My sister Saffron promptly called out how unfair it was that she have a beauty mark. The second surprise was that this little girl was a blondie just like her brother! I seriously thought that was a fluke.
Now Aevarie has been a gem. I love this little girl to the moon and back. She can be quite bossy and is always ordering her sisters around with a "Come on girls!". I LOVE it! She's very easy going and loving. And oh my goodness this girl is silly! Here's some pictures of her through out the 6 years, cause you know I just love pictures and this girl is too cute!

I just love this girl and can't believe that she's only been in our world for 6 years and at the same time, can't believe she's already 6.

Here's wishing my darling girl a very Happy Birthday and many many more to come!

Pattern Testing Cece Top and Dress

A while ago I got an email from a really sweet gal asking if I would like to pattern test for her. I've never been asked to test a pattern before and I was very flattered! So I replied with a very excited "YES" and very soon afterwards I was putting this pattern together.

The instructions were very well written and I even learned how to sew up a top in a different fashion as well as install my first invisible zipper. My only problem? I couldn't stop making them! This pattern turned out so versatile! Add a collar. Sleeves. Make a dress. Add sleeves to that dress. So many different looks with the one pattern! :D

In the time limit, I made 3. With plans on making more.

With the first one, I just looked at my fabric stash and this fabric was just screaming to be used!

I chose to make it sleeveless (plea to Spring to hurry up!) and I used the option of a peter-pan collar.

I love what the trim adds to it!

Don't you love how serious my little girl is in that last one?

With the second one, I chose to make another top, but we added sleeves so she could wear it to school alone. And again, added the peter-pan collar, cause I just love them. :D

Then we HAD to make a dress. With the fabric choice I just felt like it needed to have sleeves, but no collar. I love how it turned out!

The thing I didn't do with the dress is the invisible zipper. They didn't have any more at the store. Blah. But seriously look at the twirling factor of this skirt!

Are you just dying to know what the pattern is???
It's the Cece Top and Dress pattern by Popolok Designs

And the best part is how cheap it is! It comes in sizes 1-8 years and there are just so many variations! You should check out  Popolok Designs facebook  page to see all the other amazing looks too. And also check out her other awesome patterns!

I loved pattern testing for Alviana, and hope that I get to do so again! :D

Signature Style - Working Randomness

So it's signature style over at Project Run and Play this week. I was racking my brains trying to decide what my exact style is. The only thing I could really come up with is that I love putting random prints and colors together. I don't even know what to call it. Working randomness? With all the layering I like to do, I guess you could call it Bag-lady style. That's what my mother used to call me growing up. I would seriously just layer and layer.
A lot of times when I show my family and friends fabrics I've chosen to go together they give me this look of "Oooookay then". I think my style is a lot like Matilda Jane or Persnickety. And I seriously know that their clothing is a million times cuter than mine, but I would love to aspire to their level. :D

I also know I have a problem of not choosing just 1 outfit.....I need to work on that.

Here's some of my outfits from the years.

Did I mention that I love pictures too?

I do end up sewing Knot dresses, patchwork skirts and ruffle skirts the most.
I havn't been sewing too long for boys, but I do know from dressing my oldest that I love a Skater/prep style. The button up shirts with t-shirts and skinny jeans. And again, just layers! :D

I've really enjoyed sewing along with Project Run and Play and getting to see all the amazing talent. Those girls are definitely inspiring! I can't wait for the next season! :D

Taxes and Pattern Testing

What a crazy week! I had planned on keeping up with Project Run and Play, but for many reasons it was out the window this week. First of all, Mens shirt refashion totally stumped me. There are tons of amazing ideas out there, but the ones I really wanted took too much time to make. I have a half finished project that I will eventually finish. The second reason is that I was asked to pattern test by Popolok Design and I asked to test some yoga shorts from Peek-a-boo Pattern shop. Here's a couple pictures from the work-in progress of both:

I'm still wanting to make a dress version of the top, but with sleeves, and I need to add a little more rise to the back of the shorts.

Now on to my final reason for not keeping up.

TAXES!!!!!

We had already planned that debt would be paid off, so the whole "rich" feeling was very fleeting, but nothing beats having debt all paid off. :D
Since we had some extra left, we thought we would have a fun day. Now, I know I'm paranoid, so anytime we are going to out and about at busy places, I always take individual pictures of my kids so you know, if by chance they get lost, we have a picture of exactly what they were wearing and how they looked. No ones ever gotten lost before, but hey, doesn't hurt to be prepared. :D Moving on.

My kids were being super silly so this is what we got.

We were going to have the kids ride the train in the mall, but is seemed to be missing, so instead they got to ride the carousel.

And of course Corey was holding Jude.

While waiting for our friends to show up, the guys went into a game shop and the girls ran around the common area. And yes, Aevarie got to dress herself.....

Now this picture is one of my most absolute favorites of Paisley.

After meeting up with friends, we ate which took FOREVER. And after that we took all the kids to Build-a-bear. Why I didn't get pictures then, you've got me, but they all love their furry little creatures.

Anyways, that's what we've been up to. Fabric shopping later today and a baby shower tomorrow. Oh, did I mention the child that didn't get sick last time is now sick?? I'm sure thanks to the weather changing again. :D Ah well, spring shouldn't be too far off! :D
